West Bay, Cayman Islands

Captain Asley’s Watersports is a family business started by Asley Ebanks in the early 1950s. With over 50 years’ experience, they are one of the most trustworthy charter companies in the area. They have guided countless customers to their very first catch or the fish of a lifetime, and boast extremely high customer approval ratings. Numerous tournament wins and catching the largest Blue Marlin in the local waters at 610lbs have further cemented their place as a premium Cayman fishing charter.

Fishing aboard a streamlined 40 ft Luhrs, Capt. Derrin Ebanks and his team will guide you to the magnificent fish available in the Caribbean Sea. Fishing the highly productive 12 mile bank to the west of the island, and the reef areas close to shore, they target Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo and Mahi as well as reef species such as Snappers and Jacks. The clean and comfortable boat is equipped with top of the range equipment, with 30, 50 and 80 pound class Shimano Tiagra reels used on board. With a fighting chair and stand up tackle available, all styles of angling will be catered for.

Captain Asley’s Watersports have a proven track record of providing quality, flexible excursions tailored to your needs. Whether you’re a serious angler or a family looking to spend time together in the fresh air, you will be more than welcome on board. Trips can include visiting Stingray City, Starfish Beach and snorkeling around the beautiful coral reefs. To put the icing on the cake, the company can even arrange to have your fresh catch prepared for you at the marina restaurant.

Capt. Derrin is extremely proud to be endorsed by Dr. Guy Harvey. He has worked with him several times, assisting him with research trips and several TV shows, as well as winning the CIAC Marlin release tournament with him. However, it’s not just celebrities who are treated warmly: all customers leave a fishing charter with Capt. Derrin as a friend and member of the extended family. Come experience fishing the Cayman way!

About the Captain

Derrin Ebanks
West Bay, Cayman Islands
Member since January 2016
Captain Derrin grew up as the deck hand for his father Captain Asley. He has spent more time on the water than on land, and would rather be fishing than doing anything else! A lifetime of fishing in the area has given him the experience and local knowledge to put you on the fish.

This captain and mate are the finest and hardest working to catch fish and the boat is outfitted with best fishing gear in the caymans. We will use this charter again and again.

We had a great time. The weather did not cooperate for deep sea fishing - so we didn’t get to catch the fish we wanted - but we had a great time fishing inside the reef.  We got a call the night before offering to cancel since we couldn’t deep sea fish due to the winds, which I appreciated.  It was the first time fishing for three of my girls and they had a blast.

We had a fantastic half-day w/ Captain Ebanks on the Hit-n-Run. Seas were very calm and the boat is in mint condition…unbelievable. The captain has grown up on these waters in a family business and really knows the sport. He did caution us on the way out that the incoming front could either be very good for fishing that day or not so good! We only boated a barracuda but the captain and his mate, Gordy, gave it 100% and were relentless in pursuing all baits and areas. He stayed engaged with our family and answered questions all morning! A first class man and boat….that’s why it’s called fishing instead of “catching” and we’ll definitely book with Derrin Ebanks again! (Saw on instagram where his afternoon crew that same day caught a blue marlin so you never know!)
