My son and I had an amazing time fishing the Back Country with Captain Joe. The Capt. was fun, knowledgeable, and made the day a great success by putting us on a variety of fish while dodging numerous weather systems. In spite of the weather we were able to hook up on Barracuda, Speckled Trout, Black Tip Shark, and Lady Fish. Will definitely book with Bamboo Charters again and highly recommend them to anyone visiting Islamorada and the Florida Keys.

We booked a half day trip through Matt for some flats fishing for myself, my wife and two boys (9 and 13).  Matt hooked us up with Captain Andy who was awesome.  The boat was super clean, well appointed and ready to go the second we arrived.  Andy was very experienced and knowledgeable with a wonderful laidback and patient demeanor that was perfect for my sons.  Our goal was to catch enough fish to keep the boys busy for the 1/2 day we were out there and Andy made sure to deliver.  With plenty of tips on fishing for different species my boy’s confidence grew quickly.  We hit the Snapper hard and also caught some Jack and for the icing on the cake each boy landed a Bonnethead shark.  Would definitely recommend booking with these guys and we plan on it our next trip down.

Greeted warmly by staff. Offered extra warm clothing as it was a windy, chilly day. Half hour ride to the starting spot, and the boat and captain handled the chop beautifully. Caught a few trout, and Eric decided they weren’t biting as well as he’d like. Moved a couple minutes away,  and bite did improve. Tried changing tactics with instruction. Caught more trout, some cats, and ladyfish. Used the ladyfish on a more heavy duty rod as bait. Something took it, but we only reeled back half a ladyfish. We decided to try for snapper, so Eric zipped us to a spot. En route he spotted some dolphins and slowed near them so we could watch them corral fish in dirt clouds, and catch them out of the air as the fish tried to escape. At the snapper spot, he explained where the fish would be and how to fish them out. He assisted with some of the difficult casting into the tight areas around and under bushes. We were catching snapper, and soon a stingray was attracted by our baits. He helped us fish around the pesky ray until it was time to go. You could tell Eric was a bit of a quiet guy, but was friendly and knowledgeable. He baited our hooks and removed our catches from them with a smile. Assisted us in getting onboard and off. Cleaned our fish we kept and suggested and directed us to some local restaurants that would cook them for us. Gave us a lot of other reccomendations for things we asked about. And gave a bit of a tour of the club the charter is based out of, including some house boats that can be rented to stay in. Had a good time on the trip, and talking and sharing stories and pictures at the club’s bar when it was over. 👍

What am amazing day with Capt. Keith. A first
Class captain and convervationist. We went with our 2 young boys, 8 and 5 yrs old, and they had the best time ever fishing (their words not mine). Keith is absolutely great with kids and shows them how to fish and protect nature. We caught 11 different species and the boys are still talking about it. We will definitely come back as soon as possible. A great operation and you cannot go wrong booking Bamboo and Capt Keith.
