FISHING MAURITIUS - Fish Whisperer
Experience Mauritius’ famous deep sea fishing opportunities aboard Extasea, the larger of Fish Whisperer’s two boats. Captain Ian Koenig is an experienced fisherman who’ll do his best to make sure you have an amazing time! He and his partner Michael left their lucrative careers in banking and accountancy to focus on what they have been most passionate about all their lives – fishing.
Extasea is a 22’ offshore sportfishing boat built locally in 2012. The well-equipped vessel features two 115 HP Yamaha engines and has everything you need for sportfishing. With a cabin, canopy, and a shower all on board, you’re not giving up on any comfort. The boat can accommodate up to 5 anglers.
You’ll fish using Penn International rods, as well as two jigging rods and a large variety of lures for trolling and jigging. You’ll be able to use the tried and tested fishing techniques that have been producing large fish around Mauritius for years. These include trolling silicone and plastic lures, jigging lures, casting poppers, and trolling with fresh bait.
These waters are known as some of the best fishing grounds in the world. Rich in marine life, you are bound to have a successful trip here, with a wide variety of species you can target. Expect to come face-to-gill with the likes of Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Mackerel, and Spearfish.
What about the fish that is caught on your charter? The company’s rule is that the fish remains the property of the boat, but they offer two fish weighing up to 10 kg collectively to their guests. They’ll be happy to clean and fillet them for you. When fishing for Marlin, the crew recommends catch and release, which is part of their ethic.
So here it is, ladies and gents – come and join Ian and Michael in Mauritius for an amazing fishing trip!
