Captain Rick Barberi owns and operates Marlin Hunter Fishing Charters out of Penascola Beach Marina. With an extremely versatile vessel that can fish equally well both inshore and offshore, he targets a wide variety of both inshore and offshore species from Redfish to Blue Marlin.

The Marlin Hunter is a 32 ft Cape Horn center console that is perfect for nearshore and offshore fishing. The boat’s relatively small size and dual Yamaha engines allow it to travel extremely quickly to the offshore fishing grounds, while keeping it economical in terms of fuel consumption. While other boats might spend a large portion of the trip travelling to the fish, The Marlin Hunter can reach them in under an hour, giving you, the customer, the maximum time fishing during your charter trip. The boat is complete with up-to-date electronics, outriggers, and a head to give you the most comfortable and productive charter trip possible.

Marlin Hunter Fishing Charters specialize in fishing for pelagic species such as Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna and Marlin. They also bottom fish for Red Snapper, Amberjacks, Triggerfish and Grouper, among other species. During the Winter they tend to remain closer to the shore, mainly targeting Redifsh, Flounder, Trout, Sheepshead and Snapper.

Captain Rick has lived and fished in Pensacola all his life, for nearly 40 years. On every charter trip he strives to work with his guests and give them the best experience possible. His passion for fishing and wealth of knowledge about the Gulf make his charter trips truly memorable.

We had an amazing fishing trip! Beautiful morning! Captain Rick was so much fun! He worked hard to get fish to bite! We caught some nice fish! We were so happy with our fishing trip!

We asked Captain Rick to catch a shark.  He did everything in his power to do so.  Sadly, we were skunked on the shark, but he DID put us on the fish and we were able to catch and release some decent red snapper and our first triggerfish.

He scoured the Gulf in search of some big sharks, and he and Griff worked their butts off trying to hool us up.  We had a couple of REALLY NICE fish on, but hung up in the wrecks before we could land them.  We also marked several VERY large fish, so he definitely knew what was up.

Exceptional vessel, professional and HARD WORKING attitude, and beautiful scenery (porpoises, etc) will keep us coming back!

Only reason overall 4 stars is we missed out on JAWS.

Had an awesome time. They made sure that everybody had a chance to catch something, and they cared when we got sick. Both guys were super nice, and were up for whatever we wanted to do.
