If you plan on fishing in Panama City, look no further than Hooked Up Sportfishing. Your guide for the day is Captain Zane, allowing you to benefit from years of professional experience. Zane is an IGFA (International Gamefish Association) certified Captain, with several world records to his name.
Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Grouper, Cubera Snapper, Roosterfish, and more can be found in these waters, depending on the time of year. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Zane also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Capt. Zane welcomes you aboard a 45’ Hatteras with room for 10 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will supply rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included when available.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It’s customary to tip the crew 10–20% to show your appreciation. Some species might be protected and cannot be harvested. The captain will help you follow the regulations while you fish.
Trips with Hooked Up Sportfishing are child-friendly, so feel free to make a family day out of it! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board.
Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks included on board.
And that’s it! Enjoy!
