Spot N Tail Charters

164 North Causeway
New Smyrna Beach FL, United States

Capt. Patrick Rood operates Spot N Tail Charters in East Central Florida. His professional guided trips give you the opportunity to explore the diverse waters of the area, from the shallow grass flats of Mosquito Lagoon to the winding creeks around New Smyrna and Edgewater, and he will guide you towards a variety of inshore species from Redfish to Tarpon in shallow, clear water.

Fishing aboard a 17 ft Maverick HPX skiff, you will be able to access the shallowest waters to be in with the best chance of catching your target species. This technical poling skiff is as good as it gets, and its various amenities offer everything you need for a productive trip in the Mosquito Lagoon. Powered by a 70 HP Yamaha engine and featuring a MotorGuide trolling motor and six ft Power Pole anchoring system, it can tackle the shallow waters and open bays equally well, providing a stable ride even in the open water of Dayton and New Smyrna Beach.

Your main target species will be Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Black Drum and Tarpon, depending on the season and weather conditions. Capt. Patrick will introduce you to the variety of fishing techniques and strategies that he uses every day to target the local species, using the best gear on the market to make sure your trip is a good one. Shimano Stradic Reels and Seeker Rods are his particular favorites.

Charters with Spot N Tail can be tailored to suit all anglers, from the complete beginner to the highly skilled fisherman. They provide all equipment, licenses, and bait, as well as a cooler filled with ice to keep your beverages ice cold throughout the trip. Join them for a great day of fishing, and take in the beauty of the untouched waters of East Central Florida.

For a pair of novice anglers, we were more than amply surprised at the expertise Patrick showed us. He took great care to make us comfortable and quickly become anglers. From top notch equipment, boat and bait, the total package was great. We were quickly on the water casting at favorite hot spots, reeling in all types of species.
The scenery and wildlife were spectacular, including osprey fishing, dolphins swimming, and even manatees.
It was a great day spent with a top notch guide!
