Backcountry Flats Fishing
Captain John Skiffington of Backcountry Flats Fishing invites you to come explore this special corner of angling paradise. Fishing out of Santa Rosa Beach, he welcomes you aboard his boat SeaRations to experience some of the finest flats fishing you will ever encounter, in an area that is surrounded by natural beauty and is home to a variety of species who are just waiting to take your bait, whether you are fishing with live bait, artificial lures, or fly.
Captain John’s 16’ Action Craft FlyFisher flats boat is perfectly suited to these shallow waters. Equipped with a PowerPole, Push Pole, custom casting platform, Lowrance HDS-7 Chart Plotter, GPS, Depth Sounder, and a live bait well, the boat has everything you need to fish the deep channels, passes, inlets, and back bays in the area.
During your trip you are invited to either hone your fly fishing skills or to use light tackle, light line spinning gear or baitcasters as you target Redfish, Sea Trout, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle, and Tarpon. Should you choose to fish with live bait, you could be using pinfish, finger mullet, live shrimp, blue crab, and pilchards, or you could take advantage of the captain’s large selection of artificials that includes jigs, soft plastics, crank baits, spoons, and an array of saltwater flies.
Please note that customers are liable for any damage to equipment provided by the charter.
Whether you are an experienced fisherman angling for a trophy catch or a novice hoping to learn more about fishing, Captain John Skiffington would be delighted to share with you the sense of satisfaction that can be gained from spending a day aboard his boat, SeaRations in the crystal clear waters of Florida’s Emerald Coast.
