Let Diamond Dogs Sportfishing put you on the fish and show you a great day full of fun and memories. Captain Al holds a USCG Master credential and brings you to benefit of 34 years of local fishing experience. He is also a U.S. Navy Veteran that has fished all around the world throughout his life.

You’ll be casting lines from a 26’ Pilothouse that can carry up to 4 passengers. This allows passengers to travel in comfort out of the elements. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine should be without! State of the art electronics, bait tank, tower, Yeti coolers, rods, reels, tackle. We are dedicated to maintaining a well equipped and safe vessel.

Captain Al specializes in individual attention improve your success and will show you the specialized techniques that will help you succeed and can use in the future. All basic equipment is provided and we even have specialized lures if you desire (no need to bring a tackle box). We are also equipped with electric reels for deep fishing and Swordfish. No more worries about deep bottom fishing.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are welcome! Child-sized life vests are available, but we recommend bringing your own for a better fit. Kids must be 8 for trips within the Bay and 13 for ocean going trips. Don’t forget to bring snacks, drinks, sunglasses, and non-spray sunscreen. Alcohol is allowed in moderation.

Before coming aboard, it may be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. The captain will provide you with this information.

Amazing for kids

Al couldn’t have been a more considerate captain. I really needed my 8 year old to get a win after several unsuccessful attempts. He really delivered under less than optimal conditions. He was very communicative and we all had a great time and picked up some new techniques. His boat is in great shape and his 2nd mate is very friendly. I can highly recommend the 4 hour bay trip for anyone with kids looking to get some fundamentals.

We have a great trip with Captain Al! Communication was great from the moment we booked until we stepped off the boat. We knew what to expect - what if anything we needed to do such as licenses - and we were excited for our trip to start. We caught fish right away and Captain Al’s knowledge of the bay led to a day of fishing we’ll remember for a long time. We had initially thought we would book a charter to chase yellowtail - we went this route instead favoring steady action over a hunt for yellowtail. We experienced the added excitement of watching and aircraft carrier up close as it sailed by, and seeing the Blue Angels land and takeoff front the Navy base near by. Really glad we made the decision we did and would recommend this charter with our highest rating! Thanks for a great day for fishing Captain Al and Diamond Dogs Sport Fishing!

What a Day!

4 Hour Trip Bay Fishing PM on June 22, 2025 • 2 adults • 2 children

We had a party of 4, 2 adult males and 2 teenage boys. Captain Alberto and his deck hand/helper Izabella were fantastic. Captain Alberto knows what he’s doing and he knows where the fish are at. We all caught more than our share of fish during our four hour day trip. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone that wants to ease into their first fishing experience or for any seasoned veteran that wants to have a great day in the San Diego Bay.

My son and I had the BEST time ever with Diamond Dog Charter and Captain Al — hands down, an unforgettable experience! From the moment we stepped on the boat, Captain Al and his daughter made us feel like family. They were incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and just downright fun to be around. Captain Al didn’t waste any time — he put us right on the fish! We were reeling them in one after another and my son couldn’t stop smiling. You can tell Captain Al knows these waters like the back of his hand. It wasn’t just a fishing trip, it was a memory we’ll cherish forever. Thanks Al!

We had a great day fishing with Al and Jax! Al did a great job getting us on the fish while being very realistic about our expectations. We caught a lot of fish and rarely went more than a few minutes without a bite. This is a highly recommended fishing trip in the San Diego Bay area. We stayed in the harbor which made for calm waters and an enjoyable experience. Thanks!
