Depending on the conditions, you might hook into Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Largemouth Bass, Flounder, Black Drum, Crappie, and whatever else takes the bait. Fish caught during the trip are yours to take home, so long as they’re within the legal limit. The crew can even clean your catch for you. Now that’s dinner!

Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Mckinsey also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing.

You’ll be casting lines from an 18’ Key West Stealth flats boat with a capacity for 3 passengers. It has everything else you need for a productive day on the water. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, and you can expect to catch it during your trip.

You might need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.

Trips with Refuge Marine are open to the whole family! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Some essentials to bring are snacks, drinks, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.
