Hooking On The River
If you’re ready to start fishing in Clayton, we’ve got you covered with Hooking On The River.
Largemouth Bass and more inhabit these waters, depending on when you go. You can expect to do some spinning, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own.
Your adventure begins aboard a 26’ Lyman classic runabout with a capacity for 5 passengers. It has and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are included, along with lures. Live bait is available, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, you’ll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. It’s recommended to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.
Go ahead and treat yourself to a day on the water with Hooking on the River.
