Roko Island Fishing Charters are located off the very northern tip of Australia, within easy reach of Bamaga airport, which is accessible from Cairns. They are offering you the opportunity to make the most of the extremely varied fishing opportunities available in the untamed wilderness and unspoilt waters of Cape York, a destination that is difficult to describe without simply repeating what has been said already.

Their 23 ft Haines Hunter boat is powered by a 175 HP Suzuki engine, and it is equipped with a variety of fish-finding electronics, including a GPS, Fishfinder and VHF radio. It can accommodate up to five anglers and features a central shade canopy to keep you protected from the warm, tropical sun of Cape York.

Roko Island Charters use a wide range of techniques on their charters, including bottom fishing, light tackle fishing, fly fishing, jigging, popping, handline, and spearfishing. They offer single day trips as well as multi-day packages. You could be fishing for a wide variety of species, including Giant Trevallys, Snappers, Yellowfin and Skipjack Tunas, King Mackerel and Barramundi in the nearby blue water and estuaries.

Charters are based from the private Roko Island, where you can stay in tastefully-furnished eco tents that are equipped with solar power lighting and electricity. Linen and bath towels are provided, as are tea and coffee making facilities.

Rods, reels, and terminal tackle are supplied in the price of the trips, although if they are lost or broken they must be replaced or refunded for their equal value.

Blue water or estuary fishing: the choice is yours. Nothing beats doing what you like in a place you enjoy!

About the Captain

Capt. Jason has been running charters for 2 years now but has been working in the industry in the area for about 6 years. He is an enthusiastic guide who believes that helping someone catching there dream fish is the most rewarding feeling! He is particularly proud of the fact that, as well as being in a top fishing spot, Roko Island Charters are based on an awesome private little island from where people can relax after a good day of fishing.
