At 13 I began working as a deckhand on a commercial Salmon troller, targeting big Chinnok and Smilies from Vancouver Island to Alaska (that's where the Big Smilie name came from - they make you smile). In my mid 20s I decided to start guiding and worked in the Queen Charlottes, Kitimat area, Knights inlet and Barclay sound, caretaking lodges in the winter and fishing all through the year. My passion for fishing is deep all year around, and my hometowns of Victoria, B.C. and Sooke have Salmon and Halibut year around as well, fishing local sheltered waters for these incredible fish. My choice to have Big Smilie in this location proves itself on every trip, while still being able to enjoy the city life afterwards. I hope to meet you, so I can show you what an amazing bit of paradise this is, and the fishing is great! Tight lines and calm seas Bruce Webber
