Captain Drew Cavanaugh, welcomes you to Florida Inshore Fishing Charters! He runs fishing trips full time in New Smyrna Beach and Oak Hill backcountry, Ponce Inlet nearshore, Port Canaveral nearshore, Daytona, and Orlando saltwater flats year-round. Capt. Drew has been fishing in the area since 1980, so there's hardly a spot he doesn't know of. He equally accommodates both novices, kids and experienced anglers, so there's something for everyone.
Join Capt. Drew on his 21-foot Pathfinder Bay boat that accommodates up to 6 anglers/passengers at certain times, please be sure to ask about this in advance if you have more than 4 going due to certain restrictions by law. This bay boat is powered by a new 150 HP Yamaha engine and equipped with GPS, VHF radio and more.
Since Capt. Drew specializes in backcountry fishing and nearshore reef fishing you'll mainly go after fish using light spin/fly tackle. Targeted species are for Tarpon, Snappers, Redfish, Pompano, Whiting, Jacks, Lady Fish, Cobia, Snapper, Tripletail, Snook, Trout, and Drum. At times we clean fish, restrictions apply.
Capt. Drew will fully cover your saltwater fishing licenses and equipment, and he usually prepares live bait in advance. He can also bring fly fishing equipment for you, just make sure to mention this in advance. There's going to be fresh new bottled water on the boat but you can always bring other beverages you prefer and your snacks. Just no glass please.

Located just east of Orlando, Disney, Kissimmee by 45 minutes in the Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, Ormond Beach and New Smyrna Beach areas.
We will either meet in Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral, Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach, or Daytona Beach. This depends on where we are catching most of the targeted fish you want and gets us closer to them. We will know the address to meet at a few days before your trip as well as start times. They tend to change daily.

His boat is top notch, and he was very accommodating with different levels of fishing- helping our daughter who needed more assistance to helping our son and myself who have more experience. He gave us lots of valuable information on the local flora and fauna and several local areas nearby that tourist guides don’t cover. He is truly one of a kind and booking with Captain Drew won’t disappoint. We saw so many dolphins, caught many different species of fish and had a picture perfect day. Thank you to Captain Drew! At this point in time we have become a team to say. We will see him again soon for our daughters wedding in March. Good times ahead!!

4 Hour Day Trip on May 24, 2024 • 4 adults • 2 childrenWhat a day! Captain Drew was the perfect match for us. Mom, Dad and daughter and son! Captain put us on the fish within minutes of launching. He did a great job in communicating prior to the trip, was waiting for us at the dock and was very prepared. He was great with our kids and we had an absolute blast. We learned a lot about the local fishery and had constant action. Our 5 year old usually doesn’t make it too long on any adventure and he ended up loving Drew and has asked us to book another trip with him soon! Our daughter out fished us…by a lot. And so she’s “hooked”. We saw dolphins all over which made us both ecstatic. Also saw manatees and sea turtles. Was by far the best part of our Disney vacation. Would not hesitate to recommend Captain Drew and looking forward to coming back soon.

We were able to stop in multiple locations and catch a handful of different fish. We also encountered dolphins and a sea turtle which added to the excitement. We would 100% recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy some time on the water with a knowledgeable captain and beautiful, clean boat.

4 Hour Day Trip on February 4, 2025We had a really nice morning fishing with Drew. He was friendly, professional and great with my son, who has only fished a few times. So this was new for us both. I do not fish so I was so glad to see Drew help him throughout the trip. Hopefully we will be back next year to do this again.

We talked about the type of fish we wanted to catch and he made sure to take us to some good spots. We saw dolphins, manatees and lots of other wildlife. We had a fun time fishing and Capt. Drew told the best stories and kept us entertained. We had our 11 year old son and 7 year old daughter and both of them agreed it was the best day of the summer.

6 Hour Day Trip on January 29, 2024 • 2 adultsThe trip was awesome, right away there was wildlife to see everywhere. Fishing at this time of year can be tough for some people…. Not for captain drew and his clients!!! We had a bunch of opportunities to catch some nice size snook with big tarpon swimming right along side the boat at times. Caught variety of species that put up great fights!! I’ll definitely be looking forward to another trip with captain drew.

We had an absolutely fantastic time with Light Tackle Saltwater Fishing Near Orlando! The entire experience was fun, relaxing, and incredibly well organized. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and made sure we had a great time on the water. The fishing was excellent, the scenery was beautiful, and it was a perfect way to spend part of our Florida trip. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just looking for a memorable day on the water, I would highly recommend this trip. Great fishing, great guide, and an all-around outstanding experience. I would absolutely book again!

Captain Drew was fantastic. Although I wish we caught more the lines were tight with a variety of species. We had wonderful weather and not many other boats to contend with. Captain Drew was very informative and helpful and we could tell he really enjoys what he does. We will definitely book again next time we return to Florida.
