Captain Clowers Charters & Guide Service is owned and operated by Captain Clowers, a San Diego native who has spent his whole life fishing the fertile waters of San Diego and Northern Baja. He offers charters on the calm San Diego Bay waters, or can take you up to 40 miles offshore on the Pacific Ocean fishing grounds including the Coronado Islands, 9 Mile Bank, outer banks, and to artificial and natural reefs. No matter your preference, Capt. Clowers knows how to put you on fish in all areas!

Capt. Clowers runs a 25’ Chris Craft Scorpion offshore sportfisher, recently restored in 2016. It is powered by a 350HP Volvo dual prop engine, and comes equipped with Garmin 7610 GPS & Fishfinder, Lowrance radar, and VHF radio. It can accommodate up to four anglers offshore, or six guests when heading out on the Bay. For a productive day of fishing, the vessel comes fitted with outriggers, downriggers, livewell, and features a flybridge to make sure you don’t miss any action below. For your comfort, the boat also comes with an on board toilet, beds and coolers for your drinks and snacks.

Captain Clowers specializes in a wide range of fishing techniques, including kite fishing and spearfishing (guests need to bring their own equipment), and can show you the best methods to target offshore species such as Tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, Marlin, Wahoo, Mako Shark, Thresher Shark, Calico Bass, Halibut and more, or Bay species including Bonefish, Bass, Halibut, Corvina and Bay Sharks. Trips include the use of all fishing gear, live bait, lures, fish cleaning and bagging, snacks (chips) and water. Guests can BYO beer, but no hard liquor is allowed.

Captain Clowers also offers boating lessons, where he can run you through all you need to know about boats, fishing, launching, and using various fishing gear and electronics, including how to find fish in these waters.

He also offers half and full day freshwater fishing trips on the local lakes aboard his 20ft Ranger bass boat.

About the Captain

Alan Clowers
San Diego, California, United States
Member since February 2016
Captain Alan Clowers was only 5 years old when he started fishing the bays and local lakes of San Diego, heading out with his dad and brothers. He has been fishing ever since and now knows these waters extremely well. He has entered various competitions over the years, and has achieved over 10 first place finishes and 8 Big Fish awards. He was named Angler of the Year in the Southland Bass Club, and has also placed in the top 5 on more than 20 occasions - not a bad record in San Diego, which is not short on competition! Capt. Clowers enjoys teaching kids and beginners, as well as with expert anglers, how to find fish in this area, and is able to customize each trip to suit your needs. A trip with Capt. Clowers will not only be a fun day on the water, but an experience of a lifetime!

We had a great time!  We took a 1/2 day trip in the bay. The Captain put us over underwater structure and plenty of fish. We had 4 people in our group and at times we had 2 to 3 fish on the line at the same time.
Plan on coming back and going offshore fishing with Captain Clowers.

First time fishing in San Diego and I really wanted to catch a shark, in fact I told everyone I talked to that I was going to catch a shark and I did.  It was an excellent time!
