About the Captain

Billy Pipkin
Heathsville, Virginia, United States
Member since February 2016
Captain Billy Pipkin was destined to spend his life on the water. He acquired his first vessel at the young age of five, a sailing skiff that was converted to a rowboat. He spent time with his father learning how to catch fish and crab, and in turn developed a deep love and respect for the water. As a teen, he spent his summers commercial crabbing, and also learned to sail before heading to college and completing a business degree. The corporate world, however, was not able to compete with the magic of the water, and so Capt. Billy embarked on a joint venture with his father to own and operate a marina before eventually starting his own fishing charter business in 1987. A few years later when Capt. Billy’s father passed away, he made the decision to run both businesses. With the support of his family, they have been able to grow both businesses successfully. Capt. Billy is not only a highly experienced USCG licensed master, but also a fishing columnist, and speaker for various events.
