If you’re looking to catch and release a giant Bluefin Tuna and have the ultimate thrill of a lifetime, consider chartering F/V Blitzen.
Captain David Appolonia has over 40 years of experience fishing the waters of Rhode Island and Block Island Sound, and is the only Rhode Island charter boat focused solely on giant Bluefin Tuna. You will be traveling onboard "Blitzen", a Flowers 36’ Downeast vessel, equipped with state-of-the-art safety gear, electronics and fishing equipment to target giant Bluefin Tuna that typically range between 300 and 1,000 pounds. Fishing for giant Tuna is for experienced anglers and suggest a charter group of no more than 4 guests.
During the months of June through November, we fish commercially for giant Bluefin Tuna when the season is open, which allows us to stay on top of where the fish are.
We are now offering charters on "restricted fishing days" (when you cannot commercially fish) when giants are most likely to be around, August 15th-31st, September 16th -30th and October 15th-November 30th.
"Catch and release charters" are designed for experienced anglers that are up to the challenge of trying find and catch the most powerful, toughest fish in the ocean.
On a typical day targeting giants, we leave the dock at 5:00 am and return by 5:00 pm. We begin the day with catching live Bluefish or Mackerel for bait and then run between 20 and 45 miles offshore to search for Whales, birds and schools of baitfish that attract giant Bluefin.
Targeting giant Bluefin Tuna is not only a challenge but an incredible adventure for experienced anglers.
This is great venue to entertain corporate clients and customers interested in big game fishing for an unforgettable experience.
