Inshore Fishing with Ben Alderman

50 41st Avenue
Isle Of Palms SC, United States

Capt. Ben Alderman offers year round light tackle and fly fishing charters in South Carolina, guiding areas around Charleston and the Isle of Palms. He runs the majority of his trips from the Isle of Palms Marina, but can also trailer his skiff to a variety of other starting points in the Charleston County area, such as Shem Creek (Mount Pleasant) and the Garris Landing in Awendaw.

Capt. Ben is proud to have been a member of the Maverick Boat Company Pro-Staff since 2001, and fishes aboard an extremely versatile 18 ft Maverick flats skiff. Accommodating up to three anglers, the boat is powered by a new Yamaha SHO 115 engine for reliability and speed, and also features a poling platform for the stealthiest of approaches. The boat’s combination of a very shallow draft and a dry ride makes it the perfect option for guided fishing around the flats.

While he specializes in fishing for Redfish, Capt. Ben also targets a variety of other species on his charters, depending on the season. If you and your kids want a more varied trip, you could be fishing for Sharks, Ladyfish, Trout, Flounder and many more in the Summer. The fall and winter are the best times for sight casting, as the water gets clear at the same time as the fish start schooling up.

Whether you want to go fly fishing, spinning, or bait casting, Capt. Ben’s 20 years experience guiding in South Carolina will ensure you get the most out of your trip. He will work hard to make sure you accomplish your angling goals and, most importantly, have fun! Whatever style of fishing you choose, you are bound to benefit from his experience as a long term hard core fly fisherman and Redfish tournament angler.

While Capt. Ben is happy to clean and fillet a few fish for you to take home, he strongly believes in maintaining the area’s fishery, and practices catch and release where possible. He welcomes anglers of all skill levels and particularly enjoys running family trips.
