Clearwater Inshore Fishing

Seminole Street
Clearwater FL, United States

Captain Brain Mathey of Clearwater Inshore Fishing offers charter trips around the pristine flats of Clearwater and Tampa Bay for Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, and much more. With over 10 years of guiding experience and over 20 years of experience fishing the local waters, Captain Brian is well qualified to take you on a fishing trip to remember.

You will be fishing aboard a 22 ft Ranger bay boat that is powered by a 250 HP Evinrude ETEC engine. The boat offers a fast, stable, and dry ride, and has plenty of dry storage on board for your belongings. Its many features include three livewells, a Minnkota trolling motor, a Powerpole anchor and a Hummingbird side imaging depth finder… in short, it has everything you need and more for a fantastic day fishing the flats around Tampa Bay.

Capt. Brian uses Diawa reels with Spyderwire ultracast line and Ohero rods to fish for Snook, Redfish, Trout, and more. He also specializes in Tarpon fishing, for which he uses Star rods with Diawa reels, as he finds this to be the best combination for reeling in a 200 pound fish.

On the day of your charter trip, you will be picked up at an agreed location with the boat ready to go and full of bait. You will then fish different locations, from the beautiful beaches of Clearwater, to the crystal clear flats and mangrove shorelines. At the end of the day you will return to the dock, where your fish with be cleaned and bagged for you to take home.

I grew up fishing the waters of Pinellas County. By the age of 16, I purchased my very first boat and was found fishing the pristine flats that the area has to offer. Then.. in 2005 at the age of 22, I received my captains’ license and began taking clients charter fishing and providing them an experience, they will not soon forget. My mission, is to deliver the very best Clearwater charter fishing experience. I have 3 children (Juliette 5, Josette 4, and Fisher 2) and a beautiful wife Nicolette. Taking young kids fishing and teaching them has to be one of the biggest joys of guiding. Having my own young kids, it has helped me appreciate the little things in life and there is nothing better than seeing a little one hold up their first fish.

CAPT Brian is an absolute pro. He knows the waters and finds the fish. His knowledge level is unmatched and he’s a really awesome dude. I went out with my two teenage sons and could not have had a better experience. Highly recommended.

Complex process of booking 6 separate, 3-person charters to accommodate business conference attendees with various levels of experience. Some went near shore, others offshore, everyone caught fish and raved about the experience. Lots of action, polite and skilled captains, excellent equipment. Capt. Brian Mathay coordinated all and guided 3 of the charters.
