If you’re ready to try fishing in Gibraltar, book a trip with Challenger.
Species like Bluefin Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Bonito, Conger Eel, Dentex, Gilt-head (Seabream), Squid, Mahi Mahi, Ray, Scorpionfish, and more are in the cards, depending on the season. On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites to keep up those energy levels!
Your adventure begins aboard a 21’ Dipol pilothouse with room for 4 passengers. It has a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can’t go wrong when you bring sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.
The click of a button is the only thing keeping you from a great day on the water with Challenger!
