Jacob Frye’s Guide Service is all about fishing the stunning waters of Gold Beach. Captain Jacob will be your guide, bringing aboard years of local experience. The Rogue Bay, located in Gold Beach, is a unique fishery, to say the least. New schools of big, angry King Salmon push into the bay on a daily basis providing excellent opportunities for the awaiting anglers. Being fresh out of the ocean, these kings are some of the hardest-fighting salmon the West Coast has to offer.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon, and anything else that bites. During the trip, you might be light tackle fishing, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can’t go wrong with snacks so that everyone stays happy and energized!
Your fishing machine for the day is a 24’ Alumaweld Super Vee aluminum fishing boat that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is also available
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect. You can’t go wrong when you bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
