Catherine Anne Sportfishing and Excursions invites you to experience the stunning waters of Southport. Having logged many hours on these waters, Captain Steele knows them forwards and back.

Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Spanish Mackerel, Gag Grouper, Vermilion Snapper, Black Seabass, Cobia, and more inhabit these waters, depending on the season. You can expect to do some spinning, popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Steele can also show you kite fishing.

Kids are absolutely welcome, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Child-sized life vests are available. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks and anything specific you may want to drink, the boat provides water to stay fueled throughout your trip!

Capt. Steele operates a 36' Revenge custom center console that can carry up to 6 passengers. This amazing boat is one of the largest, fastest and best equipped boats in our area which equates to more fishing time and comfort on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

Certain trips are run with the help of a First Mate. The Captain and Mate work hard to make your trip count, so a 15–20% tip is customary.

The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain. It's always wise to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Tricky day fishing but Cpt. Steele delivered

Capt. Steele was very communicative and an incredible guy! Conditions were tough offshore so we went inshore and after some break offs we train a few different spots until Capt. Steele put us in the bite. It wasn’t the best bite that day but Capt. Steele worked tirelessly and got us on the fish and sent us home with dinner. A fantastic boat and quality gear and great hospitality and expertise got us a great day and good memories. Steele even gave us a lunch recommendation that hit the spot!

2hr PM Trip Perfect For Kids

2 Hour Trip – Kids Intro (PM) on June 13, 2025 • 5 adults • 1 child

Captain Steel was great. Super down to earth and knowledgeable about all think fiahing and not in the Southport area. I took my normally cautious 5 year old for a 2 hour afternoon trip. With very little description of us and specifically my sons fishing experience Captain Steel thoughtfully prepared a game plan for us so that we could do something a little different than we were used to and get a good taste of fishing in the ocean. We caught spanish mackerel, bluefish, and near the end tried some shark fishing and reeled in a 5ft Bull shark. Too large in fact to get into the boat but we got plenty of photos and sent him in his way. It was awsome. We will absolutely be back. Thanks Captain Steel.

6 Hour trip

6 Hour Trip – Offshore (AM) on May 14, 2025 • 4 adults

Slow start to the day so we moved to a wreck. The bite was one after another at that point. The Captain said the action would be intense at that location. He didn’t lie.. We limited out on Amberjacks and our arms felt every bit of the action. Ended the day with a very large Spanish while watching sea turtles. Even with one of the group suffering sea sickness the Captain kept all involved. At the dock our catch was cleaned for us which made for an enjoyable evening of eating the catch of the day. I went into the charter with wanting to bring home a cooler full and wasn’t disappointed. Give them a try if you’re on the Island.

Great 12 hour Gulfstream Trip

12 Hour Trip – Gulf Stream on September 7, 2025 • 4 adults • 2 children

The wahoo weren't cooperating but we caught a mess of mahi, blackfin and skipjacks. Captain Steele knows his stuff and was great with my 9 year-old. While other boats in the area were giving up on trolling and going bottom fishing, Captain Steele found the fish and figured out what they wanted. At one point, we had 5 or 6 fish on the line at the same time (chaos but in a good way); on several other passes we had at least 2 hooked up at once. Will definitely fish with Captain Steele next time we're in the area.

Great experience for our family of 5 first timers!

4 Hour Trip – Nearshore on July 22, 2025 • 5 adults

This was our time on any sort of fishing charter and we LOVED IT! WE got picked up at their pier at Bald Head. Our family of 5, (kids 19, 17, 14) did the 4 hour near shore and caught at least a dozen fish which we cleaned and kept and then moved on to catching sharks. We caught 3 bonnethead sharks and a bull shark, all about 3ft or so. We had the best time and would highly recommend! Captain Steele was so patient and made our first time out a blast. He was great and we will definitely book again!
