Depending on the season, you might hook Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Bluefin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and anything else that bites. Captain Elliott aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you’re after!

Your adventure begins aboard the "Roanoke", a 50-foot sportfisher built by legendary local boat builder and charter boat Captain, Sheldon Midgette. It has air conditioning, three fighting chairs, and all the essentials of a true fishing machine. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience and she holds up to 6 passengers.

Capt. Elliott has rods and reels for you, along with lures and bait. The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.

A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. A 20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome!

A few important items to bring include a hat, sunglasses, towels, and sunscreen. You’ll want to bring a cooler with food and drinks to keep you fueled throughout your charter!

The booking process through FishingBooker was smooth, and the directions to the boat were clear and easy to follow. Parking was convenient, and finding the dock was no problem at all. Captain Elliott was professional, welcoming, and made the whole trip enjoyable. He made sure we were comfortable, explained everything clearly, and knew exactly where to take us for the best fishing opportunities. His knowledge of the area and dedication to making sure everyone had a great time really stood out. We ended up catching a great variety of fish — barracuda, bonita, mahi, tuna, and Spanish mackerel — which made the trip even more exciting. The boat was well kept, the gear was ready to go, and the entire experience felt organized and stress-free. 6 Hour Tower Trip on August 18, 2025 • 6 adults

We initially had reserved for the day after we went but an approaching storm was going to prevent us from going. Captain Elliot was very kind and reached out to us ask if we would like to go early. We were stoked and made the trip. We left port, grabbed a bunch of baitfish and headed off to find our cache of fish. Roanoake sports fishing did not disappoint! Within two minutes of reaching our fishing grounds we were slaying 20 lb amberjacks which put up a great fight. We filled our quota and trolled for awhile on the way back to wanchese catching false albacore. Needless to say the boys and I had a wonderful time and recommend Captain Elliot’s tower trip. 10/10!!!

6 hour tower trip

6 Hour Tower Trip on August 11, 2025 • 6 adults

6 of us headed out on 8/11 after catching some live bait in the harbor. 1 hr run to the navy tower 25 miles offshore put us on some nice 30lbs amberjack which was a lot of fun for everyone. Trolled for dolphin and bigger creatures for 45 mins at the end. Weather was nice and the boat more than capable. Capt and crew were attentive. A nice combo trip for someone wanting more than inshore fishing but not wanting to do a 12 hr full offshore trolling trip.

Fantastic Fishing!

6 Hour Tower Trip - 12:30 PM on July 25, 2025 • 3 adults

We originally had a morning trip planned. However the wind would not let us go fishing that day. So we jumped on an afternoon trip couple days later it turned out to be a fantastic trip. We limited out on Black Seabass, and limited out on Mahi-Mahi. The Captain and First Mate did an exceptional job ensuring we were reeling in fish at all times, besides when we were traveling. I would highly recommend and would use them again in the future!

Amberjack and Spanish

6 Hour Tower Trip on June 4, 2025 • 3 adults • 3 children

Captain Elliott and first mate Wyatt were excellent. They put us on the Spanish early and we caught over a dozen , then headed out to the tower to catch amberjack . What a fight ! Nothing like I’ve ever experienced. Everyone on board caught at least one , and we only kept three because it’s plenty for us to eat. Captain and crew were very friendly, shared conversation with us , and far exceeded our expectations. Will definitely go back out with them next time . We’re enjoying our catch tonight for dinner . Amberjack ceviche and on the grill . Nothing like fresh fish right out of the ocean .
