These waters are known for Swordfish, Squid, Lobster, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Sand Bass, Calico Bass, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, White Seabass, Yellowtail Amberjack, California Sheephead, Halibut, and more – with any luck, it won’t take long to hook into some.

You can expect to do some fishing with heavy tackle, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Wes also offers kite fishing. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing.

Trips with Bight Sportfishing are great for kids, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites!

You’ll be casting lines from a 28’ Pilothouse that can carry up to 4 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water.

Capt. Wes has rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.

You might need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

It’s always wise to bring sunblock (non-spray), a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
