Fisherman's Choice Charters

Fisherman’s Choice Charters has been voted "Best Fishing Charter Service" for 22 years. Featured on ESPN, contributes to local fishing derbies, and a big supporter of the veterans and all emergency & first responders.

In early May we start fishing the Knik River for King Salmon. The Knik River is the only river in Alaska’s Matanuska Valley that allows the use of Salmon eggs for bait for part of the King Salmon season. Beginning in late June we start fishing for King Salmon on the Little Susitna River (if the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game allows retention).

As the days progress, we also start catching Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, and Chum Salmon along with the Kings. Also, our guests often see Alaska Moose, Bald Eagles, Beavers, Otter and an occasional bear meandering by.

The Talkeetna River has one of the strongest runs of all 5 species of salmon. The Talkeetna River is also famous for its abundance of Trophy Rainbows, Dollies and Arctic Grayling. Both the Deshka River and Talkeetna River are tributaries of the Big Susitna River which hosts the second largest run of migrating fish in the world.

Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard!  You’ll be fishing aboard a 24’ SeaArk Aluminum fishing skiff with space for 6 passengers. No need to bring any equipment. Each fishing charter comes fully equipped with everything you need. So the only thing you’ll have to worry about is your fishing license (a King Salmon stamp is also needed when fishing through mid-July), food, drink, having fun and fishing of course! Also, filleting your fish is included and your guide will put it in bags for you to take home or to a processor for packaging and shipping.

Fisherman’s Choice suggests bringing sunscreen, a camera, a hat, sunglasses, drinks, and food. The mornings are cold, so make sure to dress warm and in layers!

And that’s it! Your fishing trip with Fisherman’s Choice Charters is just a click away.
