Enjoy fly fishing and light tackle at its best. From Narragansett Bay to Newport including beautiful Block Island. This is an opportunity for both beginners and seasoned anglers to catch the fish of a lifetime. Whether fly fishing of spin fishing, you will be fishing within minutes of leaving the dock - no long boat rides.

You will be fishing aboard Captain Rene’s 21ft Mako center console, custom designed for fly and light tackle fishing with state of the art electronics and side scan technology. They are located minutes from the airport, and trailer their boat to areas along the ocean state. Local boat ramps throughout the state provide access to open water, never far from quality fishing.

Spring season starts in the protection of Narragansett Bay, using a choice of big flies and live bait to catch large Stripers chasing adult Menhaden from Providence river to Newport R.I. As the season progresses and the water temperature starts to climb, the fishing moves along Newport’s rocky shoreline. Newport’s many reefs offer an opportunity to chase feeding fish along the white water, and fall brings Little Tunny into the Ocean State. You will fish from Newport to Point Judith R.I. chasing False Albacore and Atlantic Bonito .

Action can be fast and furious, landing these fish on a fly rod is no guarantee, but the joy of landing one will last a lifetime. As the season comes to an end the Striper migration begins with loads of hungry Stripers feeding on small bait on the surface. Rhode Island offers fishing for all seasons, so let Captain Rene show you all his favorite places. Captain Rene is an Orvis-endorsed guide with over 40 years fishing Rhode Island waters.

I am a fly fishing and light tackle enthusiast. I started fishing as a young boy. Searching local ponds and lakes, for pan fish and other species. Avid trout fisherman and I love to fly fish for Saltwater species. To me there is nothing more enjoyable, than to be on the water and watch the sunrise, or set over the horizon. I am an Orvis endorsed fly fishing guide, but also skilled light tackle fisherman. Let me show you my favorite places.

Went fishing with Capt. Rene Letourneau, On the rocks charters, Thursday, May 19, 2016. The day started out with a pretty nice sunrise and then we went looking for bait. Snagged 6 pogies and started live lining them. Circle hooks & braid did a great job. Landed 2 nice stripers both close to 20 lbs. The captain started throwing a big white monster surface plug and there it was. My estimates is 30lbs. When the fishing slowed we plugged with rubber baits and swimmers. got a few more schoolies and one sea robin. all in all a great day on the water. Thanks Captain, see you again soon

I’ve been fishing for over 40 years and have fished in several states and different countries, many times using guides.  I’ve never used the same guide twice - with one exception.  I’ve been fishing with Captain Rene two or three times a year for five years.  Captain Rene always “puts me on the fish” and is a pleasure to be with.  It’s rare not to get a boatload of fish.  He knows the winds, the weather, and the waters in the area.  Fish with Captain Rene and you won’t go wrong.
