Ocean Explorer Fishing
Looking to go fishing in Belmar? Ocean Explorer Fishing is here to make it happen! Captain Bobby will be your guide, which means you’ll tap into years of professional experience.
He grew up in Belmar and has been fishing and spearfishing the area since 1984. His knowledge of the wrecks and rocks where the fish live is second to none. By far the friendliest Captain and crew around with lots of stories to go along with your fishing trip!
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Striped Bass, Black Seabass, Tautog, Flounder, Cod, and whatever else is biting. On the day of your trip you’re likely to bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
You’ll step aboard a 100’ Headboat with capacity for 70 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible.
Rods and reels are not covered by the charter, so ask the captain about bringing your own or renting some for an extra cost. Be sure to ask about bait and lures as well.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It’s always wise to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now, come aboard with Ocean Explorer Fishing and get hooked!
