Capital Blues Fishing Charters

Book your next trip with Capital Blues Fishing Charters and experience a world-class Blue Catfish fishery right in our nation’s capital!

Trip hours are flexible—just ask! Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Also remember to bring snacks to stay fueled throughout your trip!

Your trip begins aboard a 18’ Sun Tracker pontoon boat with space for 6 passengers (please note: boat has a max of 750 pounds of passenger weight). It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a bucket-style toilet on board for your convenience.

Capt. Owen will provide rods, reels, bait, terminal tackle, and some bad fishing guide jokes.

Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a DC fishing license for everyone in your group ages 16-64. This information is available online on the DC Government website, or you can ask the captain.

You can’t go wrong when you bring sunblock, a wide brim hat, and sunglasses. There will be bottled water provided. Alcohol is not allowed.

Now’s the time to experience fishing in Washington DC for yourself, with Capital Blues Fishing Charters!

Plenty of fish despite the heat!
Plenty of fish despite the heat!
August 24, 2024
Here in DC, the fish are still scattered due to the normal high summer water temperatures. Bigger fish (20# and above) are tougher to come by this time of year, but we've had plenty of success in the 10-15# category the last few weeks. Fishing a combination of bottom and suspended baits (fish, chicken, deer trimmings) from Key Bridge to Roosevelt Bridge has been productive in depths over 10 feet. When the sun is high, shaded areas and pilings from the numerous bridges in the city consistently hold fish. Bigger fish should be migrating up above Key Bridge once temps cool off in the coming weeks- September through November should be a great time to hit the water!
