Spend the day with Balamo Fishing and find out what the fishing in Cartagena is all about! With Captain Stephane at the helm, you’ll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
These waters are known for Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, Bigeye Tuna, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Jack Crevalle, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Caribbean Queen Snapper, Black Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Wahoo, and more – with any luck, you’ll hook into a few! During the trip you might be popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Any fish within the legal limit are yours to keep. Catch cleaning is available, so you can take your fish home without any hassle. Enjoy it later that day or pack it away for months ahead.
Capt. Stephane runs a 35’ SeaHunter center console with capacity for 5 passengers. It has outriggers, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is included, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
There’s no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray) and a hat. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks provided on board.
Now, come aboard with Balamo Fishing and get hooked!
