Catch My Drift invites you to experience the stunning waters of Ucluelet.
With over 20 years experience on the water, Captain Josh is able to provide knowledge few have on how to target and catch many types of fish, and what type of gear is best to use. You'll target your catch by trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Catch My Drift welcomes kids aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board.
You'll be dropping lines from a 30' Aluminum Offshore XL that can carry up to 7 passengers (6 guests + Captain). We have an enclosed cabin with charge seating, charge ports for your devices, a private bathroom and ample deck space to enjoy the views.
Rods, reels, downriggers and tackle are included, along with lures. We use some of the best in the industry thanks to our branded partnerships with some amazing companies.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, we can provide links to the proper license and where to buy. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
A few items to bring include sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water. Don't forget to bring snacks to keep up those energy levels!
Bring your own beers to enjoy while we're anchored. Please avoid use of glass bottles.

If you’re looking for a killer fishing trip in Ucluelet, Catch My Drift is the way to go.
Captain Josh is a pro – super knowledgeable, passionate about fishing, and makes the whole experience a blast. He knows these waters inside and out, and you can tell he loves what he does.
Josh made sure we were all set on the safety side of things, but once that was covered, it was all fun and fishing. The guy’s got a great sense of humour, and we were laughing the entire day. Plus, the music was on point – Josh played great tunes and even let us throw on our own playlists.
The fishing was awesome. Josh helped us out when we were struggling with the bigger fish and made sure we were doing everything right to land them. The day flew by, and we didn’t want it to end.
If you’re in Ucluelet, don’t miss out on Catch My Drift. Josh is the man, and I’ll definitely be back for round two.

Two day fishing extravaganza with Captain Josh
on June 13, 2025
Had a great trip fishing with Josh. He is truly a master of his craft, and will make people of all ages feel comfortable and confident fishing on his boat. The boat itself is comfortable and accommodating, and if you play the right music at the right time it will be FISH ON!! We made a tobacco offering and played Metallica on both days and my arms were sore from reeling in the chicken of the sea non stop. Catch My Drift with captain Josh should be anyones go to if they are looking to create unforgettable memories on the water in beautiful Ucluelet.

Fishing for ling cod and Halibut with captain Josh
8 Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing on April 20, 2025
Went out of ucluelet with captain Josh and my 4 buddies. We caught lingcod and halibut offshore and limited out on both. Also first thing in the morning before the fishing started Josh took us to drop prawn traps.
The Boat pristine condition and comfortable with 5 guests also the cabin has a heater that was great to keep warm as it was a cold day.
My friends and I will be booking with Josh every spring going forward
