At the helm of Off the Hook Fishing Charters is Joe Branca, a lifelong fisherman who has been fishing the waters of Melbourne for over 20 years. He started Off the Hook Fishing Charters in 2012 and works hard to put his customers on the best bite all year round, targeting Bluefin Tuna in Portland from April to July, and Snapper and Whiting in Melbourne (Carrum and Hastings) the rest of the year. For him, getting customers their prized fish never gets old, and he loves seeing the look on peoples faces as they reel in a trophy catch.

We kicked off at 6.30am from Hastings. Due to the weather being windy with the chance of rain snapper was out of the question. We headed straight out and within 10 minutes were fishing at our first spot. We found seagulls overhead which meant salmon in the water. We caught a heap of salmon which all of us reeled in and then headed to the next spot. We then caught caught lots of whiting at the next location. We moved again and due to the wind picking up found it tough to hit some fish but in the end we found a spot where we pulled in some flathead. Overall it was a great day with the crew. We had 5 guys and it was very comfortable for all of us to fish from the boat. Joe was very informative and knew his stuff. The only downer was that the fish was not filleted but we got home and worked out how to do it. Highly recommended.
