Looking for a unique fishing adventure with an experienced guide, then look no further, I've got you covered with BackWater Lagoon Kayaking Charters.
My name is Tyler Ashby, and for the last 14 years, I've spent my summers and fall guiding clients on Salmon, Dolly Varden, Rainbow trout and Arctic Char on the remote rivers of Southwest Alaska. When I'm not in Alaska, I spend my winters and spring time in New Smyrna Beach scouting and honing my skills in the grassy flats of Mosquito Lagoon or up North to the creeks and canals of the Tomoka Basin, sighting tailing Reds, or targeting Snook and Tarpon

Trout, Sheepshead, Jack Crevalle, Flounder, Ladyfish, also inhabit these water and are often a Bycatch while fishing for the targeted species mentioned above, as well as certain seasonal fish such as Black Drum.

I'll provide rods, reels, and tackle, along with lures and live bait.  Of course, you’re more than welcome to bring your own gear, but I've got you covered either way.

*** Im back from Alaska after a successful fall Moose hunt and resuming charters this week, let find those Big Reds coming into the lagoon chasing the up coming fall Mullet run***
Regarding a fishing license, at a minimum, you'll need to buy a 1-day fishing license before the trip. You never know when we might be checked by a Florida game warden. If you’re a non-resident visiting from out of state, check out Florida's fish and game website for rules and regulations and how to purchase a license.

We'll be using Live bait or artificials to target your desired species.

It's always wise to bring a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, and bottled water.  You’ll wear a life jacket for safety reasons.  Although alcohol is allowed, it should be in moderation, as well as avoiding hard liquor.

If you're looking for a different kind of adventure, then book a trip with BackWater Lagoon Kayak Charters today.

Excellent trip
3 Hour Trip (AM) on August 24, 20251 adult
I asked Andrew before the trip to try to go after some tarpon. And he very agreeable to the request. We put in and paddled a short distance to a canal. The canal had rolling tarpon almost through out. The tarpon ignored us for a solid hour. Andrew already had another option in mind when the tarpon wouldn't cooperate. We turned what could have been a disappointing trip into a great one. Andrew knew where some tarpon were but also was ready when the tarpon would not bite. Andrew did an excellent job communicating and I enjoyed listening to some of his fishing stories. Great trip.

Best charter for your money you’re gonna find in the Daytona area
7 Hour Trip – Kayak on August 11, 20252 adults
Andrew is a skilled guide with a wide range of experience. He will get you onto good spots for Snook, Redfish and Tarpon in spots that don’t require you to paddle 3-4 miles to reach. His setup can handle live bait and multiple varieties; croaker, shrimp, blue crab etc. whatever is needed to get the target species. A good teacher who gives solid advice on how to target fish even after the charter is over. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommend this kayak charter!!!
3 Hour Trip (AM) on January 14, 2025
My first time doing a kayak charter and I was highly impressed. Tyler took me through a beautiful maze of mangroves as we scouted for fish, stopping along the way at different hotspots. It was a cold and windy day which made the bite a little slow but we saw some big fish and we managed to find some nice snook hiding in the groves! Tyler was super knowledgeable and friendly, I look forward to my next trip with him!
