Although the timing of our trip wasn't ideal—marked by rain and unexpected high winds—he reached out the day before to manage our expectations and even offered the option to cancel. We chose to move forward, planning to simply enjoy a relaxing day on the water and take in the views. To our delight, not only did we catch a surprising number of fish, but Captain Derron also suggested having them prepared for lunch at Morgan's—which turned out to be an unforgettable experience. We had an amazing family fishing trip in Grand Cayman with Captain Derron! He was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the different types of fish we were catching, which made the experience even more enjoyable and educational. He brought us to a spot where he had success the day before, and sure enough—we caught several trigger fish! Captain Derron cleaned the fish for us, and we were able to cook them up that evening. It turned out to be the best fish we've ever eaten—so fresh and flavorful. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and peaceful, making the whole experience even more memorable. Unforgettable Cayman Islands Adventure with Derron and Yannik! Just back from an absolutely fantastic fishing trip in the Cayman Islands, and I have to give a massive shoutout to Derron Kelly and his amazing assistant, Yannik! From start to finish, this was an experience that exceeded all expectations. We booked a half -day excursion hoping for some great fishing, and Derron certainly delivered. His knowledge of the local waters is incredible. He knew exactly where to take us to find the fish, and his expert guidance on techniques and bait ensured we had lines in the water constantly. Derron and Yannik were both incredibly patient and helpful, offering tips and encouragement throughout the fishing session – perfect for both experienced anglers and those newer to the sport. But the adventure didn't stop there! Derron and Yannik then took us to the world-famous Stingray City. This was an absolute highlight. Getting up close and personal with these gentle giants was an unforgettable experience. Derron and Yannik handled the stingrays with such care and respect, making us feel completely safe and comfortable during the interaction. They shared interesting facts about the stingrays, adding an educational element to the fun. And if that wasn't enough, the final part of our trip was dedicated to conch diving. This was something truly unique and special. Derron dive down and got 10 conch shells for us to take to the restaurant for them to prepare for us.Derron then expertly cleaned and prepared some of the conch for us to enjoy fresh – a true taste of the Cayman Islands! Throughout the entire day, Derron and Yannik were professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their boat was well-maintained and equipped, and they ensured we had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable day on the water. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. Derron and Yannick did an incredible job. We went out for the full 4 hours. We fished 3-4 different spots on the reef and caught an array of different fish. We even spent some time trolling for barracuda because my brother and I really wanted to land one. If you are looking for a fun experience or have never done a charter before then this is the perfect trip for you. Derron's mission is to make sure you are having a good time and customizes the trip to what you are looking to experience. I will be booking again on my next trip out there.
