Joao Mendonca is here to give you a personal experience on the wild waters of Tavira.
Here you'll have access to inshore and nearshore waters, including some spots that only a local can show you.
The name of the game around here is spearfishing, which is how you'll get acquainted with these waters. You may also bottom fish, for your catch. You may need to bring your own gear for this trip or rent some for an extra fee. Contact Joao ahead of time so you know what to expect and come prepared.
Ray, Gilt-head (Seabream), Needlefish, Conger Eel, European Seabass, Scorpionfish, Squid, and more inhabit these waters if you cast your line at the right time of year.
Fish that are legal to harvest are yours to keep. That's dinner, right there! As many as 3 people can join these excursions. You'll be fishing without a boat, so expect to make your way on foot at least part of the time and come dressed for current weather conditions.
Don't hesitate to send Joao a message below with any questions you have, including where to meet on the day of your trip.
Everyone in your group should buy a local fishing license ahead of time. You can find out more online, including exceptions that may apply. Layered clothing and appropriate footwear are always encouraged (if you aren't sure what that means, just ask). It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen, rain or shine.
Joao will have some snacks and drinks for you. Ready to have the whole family unplug? Then you'll be glad to know that kids are more than welcome. Remember to ask if child-sized life vests are available; otherwise, you'll have to bring your own.
Fishing with Joao Mendonca is just a click away, so how about it?
