If you're going to drop a line in Honolulu, look no further than Kona Blue.. Captain Shane will be your guide, bringing aboard their angling experience.
Local species include Mahi Mahi, Striped and blue Marlin, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, and more. On these trips, it’s common to troll.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks to stay fueled throughout your trip!
You'll be dropping lines from a 53' Hatteras sportfishing vessel that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Shane will provide rods and reels for you, along with lures.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't leave home without a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

Our group insisted on going out despite the 6’ swells. The boat did great. Captain Shane handled it perfectly. We went in early because the conditions were too rough for fishing. Despite all that we still had a great time. I could tell this crew cared about the experience they are offering to the customers. They were very upfront with us about everything and even offered a partial refund. I highly recommend booking the Kona Blue and Captain Shane. Thanks for the memories guys!
