About the Captain

Jeff Schneider
Venice, Louisiana, United States
Member since April 2016
From a young age I always wanted to be a charter captain, although I ended up chasing my dream of riding motorcycles. As that career was winding down I turned all my focus on fishing. Moved from Florida to Louisiana and the rest is history. I am now pursuing salt water fish with the same determination and drive to be the best.

We were originally scheduled with another boat and Captain but bad weather caused us to have to reschedule.  Luckily, Captain Jeff was open and able to take us out between stormy days.  It was a slow start but he finally got us on some good size yellowfin.  For just three of us fishing, we made a pretty good haul with the red snapper we picked up on the way in.  I would have like to hooked into a wahoo or dolphin but guess it will have to be next trip!  We’ll be scheduling a trip next year with Captain Jeff for some big tuna!

Captin Downs worked hard both days, no slacking, 100% effort. That in it self would be enough but he also produced - 110lb yellowfin, line peeling wahoo, 25lb snapper, in all we caught 8 species. And, moreover, he looked out for my wife and made sure she had a wonderful, memorable, 2 days. We are booking our next trip now. Can’t wait to spend another day or two with Captin Jeff Downs.

I've had better days

May 16, 2017

Not gunna lie, this last front had a major impact on the fishing. We had several trips we had to grind away to get our fish. It wasn't easy but we put the time in and got them. I… Read Full Report →

Another awesome trip!

A spring break trip but not your usual booze filled drunken debauchery. It was a father son from the Midwest. Great people with a cool family dynamic. With almost no coaching, Luke a first timer actually got it. Understood… Read Full Report →
