About the Captain

Chris Sheppard
Destin, Florida, United States
Member since May 2016
Captain Chris Sheppard grew up fishing for Speckled Trout and Redfish in Choctawhatchee Bay with his father. His love for fishing navigated him towards a long and accomplished professional fishing career in the Gulf of Mexico, which started in Destin as the First Mate on boat ‘Mother Lode’ where he was named ‘Joel Knight Mate of the Year’. His talent for catching Cobia led him to win many tournaments from Panama City to Pensacola, including the Outcast Marine Invitational and Crab Cruncher Classic, and has also competed in Marlin Tournaments throughout the Gulf Coast, Mexico and the Bahamas. Capt. Chris is dedicated to the conservation and management of natural resources and takes great pride in sharing his knowledge, especially with children and first-time anglers. His career has now come full circle, returning to the very bay that he learned to fish and love at a young age. A day spent fishing with Capt. Chris will be an entertaining, educational and memorable experience for all.

I was wanting to get on some redfish I talked to Chris about a month before. He said that time of year was perfect the date was September 30th My wife had never been on a saltwater trip she was nervous already I told her we would be inshore. So we get there and the redfish bite was hit and miss depending on tide he told me I said whatever you think. So we ended up going 12 miles down and 4 miles out offshore to get to the same spot another boat had showed up at the same time they stared arguing back and forth on which one should be there. Our captain left the spot a cursing using the F bomb in front of my wife and my friends daughter who was with us. We had to here about that guy the whole thrip. It was not what I wanted even though we did get our limit on snapper but I could have went on a party boat for $80 if that’s all we was gona do. I will never use this guy again and probably will never get my wife to go back with me on a fishing trip like that again. He made everyone feel uncomfortable the way he was acting about the other fisherman. He was not personnel at all.

I’ve never done well on a fishing charter until we hiredChris. We caught our limit of King Mackeral and our limit of Black Snapper. All in all about 29 pounds of filet to split three ways. Great fun and will hire Chris again.
