Lite the Nite Charters provide bowfishing and gigging trips along the Gulf Coast of Florida. Their trips can run during the night or day to fit around your schedule, and they also offer the opportunity to combine bowfishing with rod and reel fishing trips. With all the equipment and instruction you need provided by the company, there’s nothing stopping you from coming and experiencing this awesome sport with them.
You will be fishing aboard a 19 ft Carolina skiff that is powered by a reliable Yamaha engine. The boat is able to float in very shallow water, allowing it to get to the best places for bowfishing while also being stable enough to be safe in choppy waters. The boat features powerful lights to illuminate the surrounding waters and to give you the best chance of spearing your target, while the interior of the boat is also lit up for your convenience. The boat’s tall sides keep you safe, and its Garmin GPS system makes sure you’re in the best place to find fish. Added to all this, there is a full stereo system and full iPod and MP3 hookups so you can fish to your chosen soundtrack.
All trips will start with a short lesson on the techniques, gear and fish species you will encounter during the day. Then you will set off into Destin’s enviable ecosystem, where you will often see dolphins and occasionally sea turtles. Your main target fish will be Stingrays and Cownose Rays, although Sheepshead, Black Drum, Needlefish, Gar, and Flounder are also common catches. The company cares about maintaining the area’s wildlife and usually practices catch and release with rays, which is possible thanks to their body structure and thick cartilage which allows them to survive being speared.
These trips are great fun for children, who enjoy the chance to get close and personal to the amazing nature the area has to offer, even if they are too small to handle the archery gear.
