131 Port Augusta Street
Comox BC, Canada

Island Pursuit Sport Fishing offers great fishing in a beautiful setting with top quality equipment. They are based out of Comox, BC right on the Strait of Georgia, which are famous for being some of the best and most bountiful waters around, with many Orca Whales as well as some amazing fish, and still easily accessible from Vancouver.

You will be fishing aboard a 25 ft Pursuit cuddy cabin, reliable and well-rounded boat which comes equipped with Islander mooching reels, Shimano Technium rods,  powerful Scotty downriggers and 10 inch Lowrance electronics, as well as a toilet, bed, and multimedia system for extra comfort and convenience.

The Strait of Georgia is famous for its Salmon, so it should come as no surprise that Island Pursuit specialises in running unbeatable Salmon trips, but they also have a great selection of other species you can target on your trip including Cod, Halibut, Snapper, even Crabs. Captain Steve Veloso likes to keep things flexible for his customers, and to that end he provides tackle for a wide range of fishing techniques including a choice of light and heavy tackle, and gear for bottom fishing, trolling, and jigging.

This flexibility is also reflected in the trips he offers, with a selection of charters of different lengths, including an “unlimited hours” fishing extravaganza where you’re the boss - pick what you want to target and for how long, with anything up to 12 hours on the water to make sure you catch what you’re after!

I spent my first day on the water at 3 days old on my dad's Comercial fishing boat. Growing up helping him and going to school I got my own boat when I was 10. I used to work around a fish camp and when I turned 12 a got asked to take my first charter out for money, we did great and I was hooked. When I was 14 I started working for a lodge guiding. 16 I started fishing on the west coast and haida gwaii. 9 years ago I bought my first charter boat and started island pursuit sport fishing.

It was a beezy day, and although we found the bait fish where the salmon should be, we struggled to catch managing a couple of chinook and a couple of rockfish. This was slightly off season, but you couldn’t fault the skipper’s efforts and would use again

Captain Steve is a very pleasant fellow with a great deal of knowledge of the sport. We caught our limit of coho in the first two hours and then went after the big springs.
