Sol & Sal offers exciting fishing trips in Costa Rica’s diverse waters! Based out of Puntarenas, you’ll discover productive inshore and nearshore fishing grounds with Captain Jorge Figueira. You’ll also have the chance to explore the unique half-land, half-water mangroves. A wide range of wildlife call this ecosystem home, and it also happens to be a haven for fish!

You’ll be casting off of a 21’ Eduardoño perfect for navigating the estuary-like terrain in the mangroves. Her T-top will keep you protected from the sun, and the live well and icebox will keep your bait and catch fresh. This vessel is ideal for 5 anglers who all want to fish at the same time.

These waters are full of fun to catch and tasty fish. In the Nicoya Gulf, you’ll test your bottom fishing skills by going after the likes of Corbina and tasty Red Snapper. To hook phantom-like Snook, head to the large mangrove in the Puntarenas mangrover. It’s famous for its heavy Snook population and a trophy catch is all but guaranteed!

All of the fishing gear you need for a productive day out will be provided by Capt. Jorge. That includes rods, reels, tackle, and live bait. Its also available upon request, free of charge. Just pack ample drinks, snacks, and sunscreen to keep you hydrated and happy throughout the day.

Enjoy a day out in Costa Rica’s unique waters with Sol & Sal!

This tour is ideal for both experienced and beginner anglers. The boat fleet is modern and well-equipped. The captains and crew are experts in the area and know the best spots to find different species such as snapper and snooks. The service is first-class, ensuring your experience is safe and successful. The Pacific coast scenery is incredibly beautiful, making the day even more special. The mangroves are impressive, and the wildlife is impressive. We saw large crocodiles up close, as well as birds and monkeys. Recommendation: To ensure a good experience, I recommend booking in advance, especially during peak season. Don't worry about fishing equipment; there's plenty of tackle and lures included in the package, and there are catch-and-release fishing options. Drinks and snacks are included.

I want to give Jorge credit for communicating prior yo our arrival and getting us to the boat. His boat and equipment were fine but there didnt seem to be a plan for fishing. There was a language barrier which made it tough. The first stop was a solid pick and we caught a stingray. The only instruction was the word jig. the second stop showed promise as 2 fish were caught but we were quickly asked to leave by security as that was the cruise terminal. After the first 45 minutes there really was no plan. We tried to fish in the mangroves for about 20 minutes but Jorge said the tide was too high. Then he tried trolling but the crank baits kept coming to the surface and i felt like i knew how to do this style of fishing better than the guide which isnt saying much. we just spent the last 2 hours trolling without hope. I think Jorge will someday be good at guiding but there really wasnt a backup plan when things arent going as planned.
