We caught a total of 14 speckled trout in an all day trip. 13 of the trout were caught on live bait by 9:30 am when the Captain informed us that we had used all of the live bait and would have to throw lures.
We caught 1 keeper from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm throwing lures. I have never been on a fishing trip to Padre Island where the Captain ran out of live bait. The boat was an 18 footer with 4 people fishing with live bait and then 5 people (including the Captain) throwing lures off of one side of the boat, what a cluster that was, I finally quit so the others could fish. Would never use this charter service again and will ask in advance next time if we will run out of live bait, if so , will find a charter service that will not. A lot of money spent just to be on the water fishing with lures when the fish are biting live bait.

I apologize for including 5 dozen baits at no additional cost, in which typically I throw artificial baits with great success. The feeding habits of fish depend much on tidal movements when the tide is moving they are feeding and when it’s not they are not. The boat you were on is an 22ft. I apologize again and am willing to educate you further if you would like to fish gain!Roy Deaton does not recommend Chasing Tails Guide Service
