Fishing in Orlando

4756 Saw Mill Lane
Mims FL, United States

Many visitors arrive in Orlando, Florida, exclusively to visit the Disney World theme parks, barely aware of the fact that some of the best inshore fishing in the world is just around the corner. Located just 15 minutes from Orlando city is the Mosquito Lagoon, a unique saltwater estuary that houses manatees, dolphins, many species of birds and, of course, plenty of great tasting and hard fighting game fish. Captain Mark has been guiding these waters for over twenty years, and has extensive experience of helping novice anglers and keen fishermen alike catch their dream Redfish, Trout, Snook, Tarpon, Cobia, or Shark.

Captain Mark fishes aboard a 19 ft Sterling flats boat that is powered by a 115 HP 4 stroke Yamaha engine. This fast-travelling vessel features a Minn Kota trolling motor to allow you a stealthy approach towards your target fish, and has an anchoring system to keep you in position. With a poling platform as well as a front casting platform, this is an excellent boat for sight fishing, which is one of Captain Mark’s favorite, and most effective, techniques in the Mosquito Lagoon.

Fishing in Orlando gives anglers of all ability levels the chance to catch fish. Beginners can try their hand at catching Redfish and Snook with bait, while more experienced anglers will appreciate the chance to experience what it feels like to have a leaping and bounding Tarpon on the end of the line.  Children are especially welcome on board: Captain Mark has plenty of experience taking young anglers out onto the Lagoon thanks to the fact that his own five year old son is an avid fan of catching Redfish with his Dad.

All the necessary licensing and equipment is provided by the captain - all you need to bring is snacks and drinks, a camera, and polarized sunglasses for the best sight fishing opportunities.

I've been a local of the Mosquito Lagoon area and fishing mosquito Lagoon for almost 25 years now. I've been a full-time guide for the past 20 years. And the thing I learned that's most important is making sure clients have a good time first and catching fish second. I enjoy the work I do and enjoy the happiness of seeing others catch fish and I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you.

The experience could have been better if the Captain provided bug spray, and the water we expected. I was given one price on your website, the actual cost was more than double. The Captain only bought a small amount of bait. For what I was charged unacceptable. The Captain is a very good fisherman, however will not recommend your site, or that guide!

Hi Ron thank you for the review It appears you are unhappy with your experience for that I apologize. However I am unsure of what you meant by price was different on website my price is absolutely the same thing on my website as on this site furthermore when you purchased the trip from this website you are told what the price will be I do not charge any more or any less then that.  As far as the bait goes I bring what is needed for the trip there is no need to bring any more than that in the summer as it will die before the end of the day.  As far as what I Supply, I supply everything needed for the trip the only thing you need to concern yourself with is your food and drinks it is on the video on my website that has been there for years unsure of what you meant by bug spray and providing you with beverages.  Lastly once again I do appreciate your input, Sorry your experience wasn’t what you expected and will strive to do better in the future To please you if you so decide to go fishing again.

The captain worked hard and did his best to make sure we had a successful trip but the fish were being quite skiddish due to how many other boats were also fishing at the same time. Totally out of his control but he didnt give up until we each caught a red. We were hoping to catch a few more than we did but once again, he did his best. He sincerely cared that we caught at least a fish.
