I’m an experienced offshore angler with access to fish in the gulf of Mexico regularly.  Boat and equipment we’re more than adequate. First mate Franklin worked hard all day. Food and beverages were great. That said, to pay for 8 hours and only hook 1 Mahi that pulled the hook was disappointing. I’m a big believer that it’s called fishing and not catching for a reason, but to come to Costa Rica and strike completely out was a real trip killer. Lesson learned. If you want to experience a fun boat ride and maybe catch fish, this is a great option. This was a bucket list trip for me and I regret not going to Los Suenos or Quepos (or waiting to get to Costa Rica and book a locally recommended boat). Also we spent most of the day trolling along commercial long lines which makes me suspicious that we were checking the lines more than targeting fish. They even offered me a Mahi from the long line which further confirmed my suspicion that they also ran the long line operation. I asked about going inshore for Rooster Fish and was told that required live bait and they had none. Really? What reputable charter can’t make bait? Again, great for a last minute boat ride to maybe catch fish, but don’t make the mistake I made and base a bucket list trip on this boat. I’m guessing more times than not, you’ll be disappointed.

I wanted an inshore trip to pursue Rooster Fish. The weather conditions were bad with very high winds. In retrospect, I should have rescheduled the trip. We fished live bait for the majority of the trip and had no bites. We did some trolling and caught a Bonito and Jack Crevalle.
