Get ready for that fish of a lifetime! Join Capt. Oliver King on his recently restored 18 ft Benateau to fish the calm waters off the coast of Madeira. This speedy and responsive boat is powered by a 70 HP Suzuki engine and is fully furnished with high quality navigational devices, including Furuno GPS and Fishfinder.
As the island of Madeira is on a steep drop-off you only need to go a couple of miles away from the coast line to be in deep offshore water. Capt. Oliver fishes for a variety of species in the area and doesn’t just stick to Marlin and Tuna. A fishing trip with him will involve trolling using his own specially honed techniques and bottom fishing closer to shore when the opportunity presents itself. Oliver will always do his best to take you to the right spot according to the fish available in the season, as well as finding Barracudas, Amberjacks and Bluefish swimming in the shallows and rocks near his mooring all year round. He uses custom rods with Penn and Shimano reels along with his favorite artificial lures, and has honed his method of speedy and effective trolling - he doesn’t let this information go easily, so you’ll have to book a trip with him to learn his secrets!
Capt. Oliver keeps his boat stocked with drinks and light snacks for his customers, while being careful not to overload it at the expense of the fishing. Meet him for a coffee at the local cafe on the marina before your trip to discuss your options for the day, before heading out to sea to see what Madeira is all about: fishing!

This was a great days fishing and although we didn’t manage to land an Amberjack or Barracuda, I did hook into one and enjoyed a 30 minute fight before it shook me off. It was a thrilling experience and it’s how fishing goes at times. We did manage to catch several good size Trigger fish which I had not caught before. Miguel was friendly and communicated very well. The location was excellent and if I’m ever in Madeira again, I would certainly look to book this again.
