Angler Management Inshore Fishing

Hello, This is Capt. Clay and I’d like to welcome you to the area. If you didn’t already know, Orange Beach is a wonderful town with beautiful beaches, and is also a really good fishery for many saltwater species. Though some fish are better to target during certain months of the year, I like to fish for whatever game species is offering the most consistent bite.

My 24’ Kenner center console accomodates six anglers, is powered by a 2016 200HP Suzuki outboard, and comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, VHF radio, live well and ice box. Trips include fishing gear, live bait, licenses, and catch cleaning and filleting.

Early Spring is the best time for a multi-species bag limit. With water temps warming,  Sheepshead, Pompano, Speckled Trout and Redfish are all viable options to target. During late Spring early Summer, Flounder (my favorite) and Spanish Mackerel start to show with the opportunity still there for Reds and Trout. Once the heat of Summer arrives so do the King Mackerel, which for the trips I offer (light tackle) is the most bang for your buck if you’re looking for a fight. Summer is long on the Gulf Coast, and if the weather cooperates on the Gulf of Mexico, the Kings and Spanish Mackerel are pretty much the go-to fish bite. Once we get into September, the Redfish start to show up in large numbers and that pattern will last through the Fall and Winter.

I always recommend the 4-hour trip first, which we can extend if the fish are biting. The great thing about inshore or near coastal charters is that you will be fishing within minutes of boarding the boat - spend more time fishing not riding! I use premium live bait (match the hatch) unless you request otherwise, and light tackle (more bites).

With that being said, I hope I informed you about what I do and if you have any special requests I’d be glad to tailor a trip to fit your needs. Looking forward to fishing with you! Bring whatever you want to eat or drink, and I’ll cover the rest - Lets go fishing!

Me and my 19 & 21 year old sons had a great afternoon with Captain Clay. It was a very cool afternoon but pretty sunny. We are not experienced fisherman at all (once per year when we come to the gulf coast). Capt Clay did a nice job explaining the tackle, the fish we would be targeting, how they bite, how to hook them and how to reel them in.  He was very patient working with us as we got the hang of the process and his friendly, easygoing personality made us feel very comfortable. He brought us to some great spots and we caught 13 Sheepshead and one Pampano. We all got to catch a few to enjoy the experience. What impressed me the most was Capt Clays attitude about fish stock conservation. He wanted us to catch all we wanted to eat, but not overfish the stock to put in danger future populations.

Overall, we had a great experience, caught the fish that we wanted, and learned a few things along the way. We would definitely be booking with Captain Clay again on our next visit.

Captain Clay was awesome! We drove four hours just to go fishing and was not disappointed! Clay taught us everything to the point I have confidence with fishing now! The fish weren’t biting so he took us to spots that we got to catch and bring home fish! I totally recommend him and we are already looking to come back soon! Thank you Clay for everything!
