I’m Captain Carson Prichard and I invite you to experience the beauty, tranquility, and fantastic fishing of Florida’s Nature Coast with me.

My goal as a guide is to accommodate the interests of my clients while using my fishing knowledge, tools and expertise as an instructor, and strengths of my boat, to create a rewarding and educational experience for the angler—hopefully landing some quality fish in the process!

On a charter with me, you’ll see that the inshore fishery of Cedar Key is diverse and plentiful year-round. It features expansive, healthy grass flats that teem with Speckled Trout and sometimes Spanish Mackerel throughout the warmer months. Redfish and Black Drum abound in the tidal regions around the islands, backcountry creeks, and nearshore oyster bars and grassy salt marsh shorelines. Winter offers some of the best Redfishing imaginable way up the three dozen coastal creeks to the east and north of Cedar Key.

Most of my guiding is in water six feet deep or less and I tend to cover a lot of water—I don’t like to sit still for long. While I am happy to fish bait on a bottom rig for Redfish and Black Drum, or under a slip float for any of our inshore species, my specialty is in using artificial lures and moderate to light tackle for Redfish and Speckled Trout. My 16’ Mitzi Skiff and guiding style lend themselves perfectly to seasoned Bass anglers and those who enjoy the angling approach of tv-style guides such as C.A. Richardson. I make extensive use of my 24-volt trolling motor to quietly and efficiently fish the shallow water shore edges and bars.

Trips are six hours for 1-2 anglers. I provide rods and reels, tackle, bait, and I will fillet and bag any fish you’d like to keep. Lastly, your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), water/drinks, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. Any questions? Just ask!

Awesome day on the river
6 Hour Trip – Waccasassa River on January 22, 2026
Captain Prichard is an excellent captain. He put me on tons of fish. The trout were so thick in some places we couldn't escape them. We must have caught over 100 trout that day. In addition to the trout, we caught snook and redfish, which was awesome. Whenever we got snagged, Capt would use the trolling motor to unsnag the lure so that we wouldn't have to re tie our lure. He was incredibly professional and really put me on the fish.
