This was our first time deep sea fishing.  Captain Tom and Cody were helpful in keeping in spots were the fish were and teaching us the proper fishing techniques to be successful.  Cody was awesome making sure our bait was fresh and new bait on the hooks for us when needed.  He also helped take our fish off the hooks.  Cody was patient with us if we messed up the lines especially me

We had a wonderful trip caught many fish not all keeper but plenty of keepers also.  Hooked a kingpin we believe, unfortunately it straightened the hook before our 10 year old got it to the boat.  Would recommend.

Started off different than lady explaned on the phone. She said verbatim the captain would do some cool stuff at the bridge with dolphins. We didnt see any cool stuff with dolpins. She also said the captain would catch some sharks and kids will love it. She also said we would catch love bait and we used frozen shrimp out of a bag. Credit to the captain for driving thru the early morning fog. The captain and mate were good but personality needs to be a lot happier and more friendly. The mate did a good job the whole trip worked his tail off keeping those frozen shrimp on the hooks. We had a great time but the lady that called us back really told us a lot more to expect.l than we got. We would go again but hope the captain becomes a little personal. We are going to enjoy grilling tonight.

Professional Captain Old Salty focused on the fog, safety and “catching fish”. Did not see dolphins because of extreme intense fog weather conditions. Safety measures were implemented during your charter, as Captain made the call not to stop for live bait as visibility was currently a huge safety concern and limited that opportunity. However, bait was not an issue as he is always ready and prepared with plenty bait, skills and knowledge aboard his very own love, pride & joy: Simply hooked
Captain Tom was sharing his Love of Angling , from fish-crazed kid to fish-crazed captain, some things never change.
Capt. Tom Markham, a fourth generation Floridian, spent his teen years less than a mile from where his charter boat, a 32-foot Sabalo called the Simply Hooked, is docked. The creeks and channels of the Intracoastal Waterway that were his playground as a kid are now his daily commute to work. His childhood dreams of getting to go chase giant fish every day are also a part of his life still, as he wakes each morning to an exciting, new, fishing challenge.

“I love offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico,” explained the Indian Rocks Beach skipper. “There’s such a variety of fish that we get to catch. And the possibility of something amazing. . .the fish of a lifetime. . .could happen at any second. When we get offshore and the bite is going off. . .there’s no better place.”
Before he was 10 (and weighed 50-pounds), Tom was fighting and landing tarpon nearly three times his weight. He remembers spending nearly every day of his Summer vacations chasing tarpon with his dad.
“If we weren’t tarpon fishing we were catching bait,” said Markham. “I loved every minute of it.”

He and his father Wayne would fish from the Gulf beaches as far north as Honeymoon Island, south around the tip of Egmont Key and then all the way to the furthest reaches of Tampa Bay. Then there were teenage trips to Cayo Costa and Pine Island Sound, where he chased the “poon” with his buddy Jeff Malone, who is now a top-notch fishing guide in the Florida Keys. Days of endless sight-casting to milling pods on the beach and laid-up fish in the Sound reinforced the tarpon bug his father instilled in him as a child.

“It’s all about the hunt,” he said. “Finding that perfect school of fish and then making the perfect cast. I still get a rush from it, 30 years later!”

He is glad you had a awesome time catching lots of fish to grill… Thank you again for choosing Simply Hooked Charters.  Looking forward to see you again!
And yes, next time will go for sharks & dolphins, using live bait!! Haha!!
