Captain Randy Knowles offers trips in Tampa Bay, Florida. Randy is yet to find a bait that is too big for Goliath Grouper to eat, so a trip with him will really get you to discover the meaning of “the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish”!
You will head out aboard a 19’ Scout flats boat with a 98” beam, which provides plenty of fishing space for up to three anglers. With its 150 HP Yamaha motor, it can reach maximum cruising speeds of 50 knots to get you to the action in no time.
The poling platform provides great support when you fish off the stern and tackle some big beasts with heavy tackle. The boat also comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, VHF radio, and a wireless trolling motor to sneak into shallow inshore waters.
Captain Randy Knowles offers specialized charters targeting Goliath Grouper using heavy tackle, and provides custom rods, Penn reels, tackle, fishing licenses, Coke drinks, water, ice, and snacks on trips.
Goliath Grouper season is best from April through November. They can still be found during the winter, however, it is much harder to get them to take the bait. New fishing regulations no longer permit you to pull fish out of the water, but it is still very thrilling to pull a fish that is bigger than you are to the boat - everybody needs to do this at least once!
