Snap Fishing Ventures - Luxury

173-175 Westhaven Drive
Auckland, New Zealand

It is hard to think of a better way of experiencing the coastline of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf than aboard a luxury fishing vessel with a distinguished local captain. Snap Fishing Ventures offer just that, with their ‘Full Kiwi Fishing and Sightseeing Experience’, an exceptional package that will allow you to cruise the local waters in style while also practicing the most innovative fishing techniques.

Snap Fishing Ventures’ luxury vessel is a 42 ft Eagle Magic Riviera boat that has ample space for up to six guests plus the crew on the broad cockpit. The boat is powered by twin 535 HP Cummins engines that allow her to cruise effortlessly at a slick 20 knots, allowing you plenty of time to perfect your fishing techniques and hook your personal best fish.

During your trip, your friendly and experienced guide will show you his backyard in the sea. Captain Nik has been fishing the local waters for over 40 years, and has extensive experience of fishing with softbaits and metal lures for the area’s delicious and hard-fighting fish species. He will teach you how to set up your gear, walking you through techniques such as Inchinku and Kabura Jigging for extremely rewarding experiences at sea.

As well as providing top level fishing excursions, Snap Fishing Ventures also offer charming accommodation, nestled among the trees in the Waitakere Ranges. If you are interested in combining fishing with true Kiwi hospitality, please inquire when making your booking.

About the Captain

Nik Key
Auckland, New Zealand
Member since July 2016
Captain Nik has fished the stunning waters of the Hauraki Gulf since he was a kid. With over 40 years experience on the water, he is not only passionate about fishing, but also about being at one with nature on the open sea. With many years’ experience fishing the local waters all year round, Nik has a thorough understanding both of how the area fishes, and why. Nik started fishing with softbaits and metal lures in about 2004, and has never looked back. He and his team took home the inaugural prize at the first ever Berkley Gulp softbait competition in New Zealand in 2007, and were at the forefront of developing this technique in the local area. Nik takes pride in sharing his knowledge of fishing with softbaits that he gained from 12 years of intensive lure fishing.
