Fishing Taxi Sportfishing is a company is led by Captain Doug Sullivan, an experienced and knowledgeable angler. A 5th generation fisherman, he has decades of experience fishing the Atlantic Ocean. His son, Capt. Josh Sullivan, currently runs the "Taxi" after taking over the boat previously run by his father and grandfather.

The company hails out of Wanchese Marina in Wanchese, North Carolina. It is a small fishing community with lots of captains, great spots to wet a line, and battle fish.

Fishing Taxi Sportfishing offers a variety of trips to meet your specific needs. The packages range from short nearshore fishing excursions targeting Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel to full-day Gulf Stream marathons that offer you the chance to put your skills to the test and bring home heaps of fish.

All the gear and lures you will need are provided, so just come along and enjoy a great day on the water. Join the crew aboard the ‘Fishing Taxi, a 36’ Ray Hunt boat, designed specifically for the offshore grounds. She comes powered by a pair of 300 HP Cummins engines and has plenty of fishing and seating space for up to 6 anglers.

The Fishing Taxi is outfitted with electronics, modern technologies, and a range of quality fishing equipment. She features a flybridge and a huge deck area, and there is a toilet on board for your comfort. Everything is fully kitted out for sportfishing, with a fighting chair and outriggers installed to make your trip one to remember. All aboard!

    Head 19 miles off the beach and hook into a one-on-one battle against monster Amberjack. This is an adventure meant for anglers looking to fight the big ones. After you’ve had your share of fighting Amberjack, you’ll find some grass beds and troll for Mahi Mahi and other fun fish to reel in. If not that, there’s the option of sliding out further than the tower to find some Tilefish or Sea Bass.

    This trip will allow you to go out and spend eight hours on the water. You can cover a lot of ground and look for different species such as Cobia, King Mackerel, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and captain's favorite Red Drum. You'll get to go further and explore more as you aim for a fishing trip that you will have memories of for a lifetime. You most likely won't get too far off the beach but at the same time, you will cover a lot of ground.

    With this trip, we're allowed to go a little bit further and look for bigger fish. We could possibly pull up Blacktip Shark or fun fighting Tiger Shark, or possibly go to a tower and catch Amberjack and possibly find Mahi Mahi not far from there. Or we can just stay close to the beach for a longer boat ride.

    This is a trip that will leave the dock at 10:30 in the morning in return to the dock at 4:30 in the afternoon. What this trip allows is more time to go out in the survey the wrecks and the gullies to try to find the bigger trophies that we can possibly get you hooked up with. We will still be close to the beach or possibly go out five miles or so off to Beach it just allows us more time for a wider range of assault.

    This is a 6 hour Cobia special meaning you’ll ride around at a faster speed looking for Cobia to cast at. Trolling is usually not done on this trip unless the whole group decides to go trolling for smaller species. You’ll fish between mid-May to mid-June when Cobia are on the move, maximizing your chances of reeling them in. You can depart either in the morning or mid-day, depending on what time you want to leave the dock.

It allows a boat ride to catch that late afternoon bite. You will be in the ocean from anywhere from a thousand feet off the beach to 2 miles out hunting down your memorable catch.

    This is for the group that would like to go out and anchor in the calm water and drop a line straight down. The boat will be roomy enough for the young ones to move around and also provide enough shade that the older ones can enjoy the day also. It will allow you to try to catch dinner, such as Flounder or Sea Mullet, possibly Croakers or Red Drum. it will be with light tackle and it's one of those trips that the father can really teach the young ones how to fish.

    This trip will keep you in the Inlet and it is for the late evening type of person. The boat will leave the dock at 3 o'clock and return to the dock at 7 o'clock. This is a light tackle trip where you will be in control of dropping your hook down from the boat and snagging on fish. This is also a great beginners' trip for your young ones in the family to see how they do on a boat.

    It is the same wonderful trip as the sound fishing morning trip but it is from 10:30 till 2:30. The trip consists of anchoring around the islands in the Inlet, which will allow us to try to catch Sea Mullet, Flounder or possibly Croaker and would be a chance to catch Red Drum that would put up a really good fight. This is a trip for the family where the little ones can enjoy to be in a spacious boat and the elderly will see what kind of treasures and memories there are.

Welcome traditional family business the Sullivan family is 6 Generations deep in boat captains and seven generations deep in boat builders Captain Bob Sullivan ran the taxi for over a decade then his son Doug Sullivan ran the taxi for Four Seasons before moving on to a bigger boat and now grandson Josh Sullivan will come up to run the boat. You get a two-for-one there are two exceptional Captain's onboard Captain Doug Sullivan and Captain Josh Sullivan. Together with their knowledgeable Years of fishing to hook and excite you and give you the trip of a lifetime. We are part of the family business we love taking people fishing and we hope to put our names on World Records cuz you just never know when you're going to catch that fish that can do that. Although no one can positively assure you that you will catch a world record under your name we will fish like we have one already and trying to break the record!
