Cape Town Fishing Charters

Cape Town Fishing Charters is a family-run charter company that prides itself on finding the right fish for the right clients! With over 25 years of offshore fishing experience, skipper Steve Potter will be sure to get you ”strapped in” to some good fish!

The charter operates out of the picturesque fishing village of Hout Bay, a 20-minute coastal drive from Cape Town city centre. You can be sure that Steve will put you on some big fish while having fun.

His boat – the ‘Beluga’ – is a 28’ Magnum walkaround boat built specifically for fishing the local area. With a twin hull, the boat offers a smooth ride, and its twin outboard motors give it a quiet and fast ride (given the right conditions of course!). Fitted with all the appropriate marine electronics, the boat will get you to the fish in the most effective way possible.

Steve offers a variety of fishing trips, allowing you to choose between staying close to shore to fish for species such as Yellowtail and Cape Snoek, and travelling from 25–35 nautical miles offshore to fish for huge Yellowfin Tuna.

From January to March you will even have the chance to target one of the ultimate sport fish – the Black Marlin, which migrates past the southern tip of South Africa once a year. You’ll get all the fishing equipment you might need for your day out on the waters, as well as food and drinks for your refreshment.

Explore the crystal clear waters off the coast of South Africa with Cape Town Fishing Charters, and have a fishing adventure you won’t forget!

Steve Potter is the most experienced angler and skipper aboard the Beluga. With over 25 years’ experience both on deck and behind the helm, he has never stopped searching relentlessly for excellent fish. His prowess speaks for itself: he has represented the Western Province in both the Marlin Nationals and the Tuna Nationals, both as angler and skipper, and he took home the gold medal of the 2007 Marlin Nationals with a 632 lbs Black Marlin. Steve has travelled widely to pursue his love of angling and has fished in areas such as Mozambique, Great Britain, the USA, Kenya, and more. He fishes with his youngest son and crewman on Beluga, Joe Potter, an avid angler who is rapidly following in his father’s footsteps.
